Warwick school U12A v RGS, Worcester U12A

The first senior game of cricket for the U12As on a glorious day in Worcester. Fintan McGrory appointed captain for this intriguing fixture. He duly won the toss and elected to bat. The wicket was perfect for batting and Fintan and his partner Oliver Warmsley opened the batting with real confidence. However, Fintan was caught behind from a lovely delivery of the RGS opening bowler. In stepped Henry Askin who promptly dispatched his first ball for four straight over the umpires head. This set the tone for the next 13 overs with Henry Askin and Oliver Warmsley putting on 92 runs before Henry was bowled. A lovely innings from Henry scoring 61 off 37 balls including 12 fours. Gianluca Larucci was very unlucky with his first delivery the ball hitting the wicket on the second bounce. Further good knocks from James Protherough and Kieran Trend increased the total considerably. But a special mention for Oliver Warmsley who finished on a rewarding 75 not out from 94 deliveries.

The U12As bowling attack is strong and the opening seam bowlers Teddy Hargett and George Leaver completed the first six overs for just 12 runs. A change of tactics from Captain McGrory introduced off-spin and Luke Gillard-Brown bowled a lovely spell completing his five overs conceding just seven runs this included two maidens and two wickets. Patrick Shannon and Will Sayers also bowled efficiently as the opposition were bowled out for just 50 runs. The fielding was excellent and everybody in the squad contributed to a rewarding result. The boys are training well and are very much looking forward to welcoming Abingdon to Warwick School on 8th May.

Man of the Match went to Henry Askin for his aggressive batting!
