Smashed & Charity

After yet another early start, we, as a group, were divided into two separate teams. The first team were to play against the Foundation of Goodness at Hikkaduwa where all the grounds were re-built and funded by the MCC after the horrendous Tsunami in 2004 which tore the area apart .The match was well fought with Warwick playing until the end and getting rather close to a very high run chase. On the other hand, in the other match against Matara Rahul College in which Warwick batted first, a collapse meant the total was small. However, the bowling was good and three wickets in three balls gave the team some hope, but we still couldn't defend our total. As we had finished the game early we played another thirteen over game, where now we bowled first, and after some tough spells, the other team posted a large total, which we were not able to chase down.

Finally, we visited the main base for the Foundation of Goodness. It was a short but meaningful stay at which the boys presented the Foundation with a cheque for £2882 to help the foundation develop even further. The day ended with some time off in the pool, another delicious meal at the Admirals table and a lengthy yet comical team meeting, Tomorrow we move on again, but only after a small lie in!!!
